Research — Domain Description (Delegation Canvas)
Date/Version: 2026-04-07 Delegator: Alex Razbakov Review date: 2026-07-07
Purpose
Primary Driver: The liquid democracy + AI agent delegation model is novel — it combines ideas from Democracy Earth, sociocracy, and AI agent frameworks that have never been integrated before. Without rigorous research, the protocol design will be based on assumptions rather than evidence. Main Requirement: Provide grounded research that informs product decisions, protocol design, and public narrative.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing liquid democracy implementations (Democracy Earth, Loomio, DAOs)
- Study governance models (S3, holacracy, direct democracy, representative democracy)
- Research AI agent alignment and value calibration approaches
- Design the delegation protocol specification
- Maintain research notebooks (NotebookLM) and summaries
- Identify academic papers, practitioners, and communities to connect with
- Provide evidence-based input for product and strategy decisions
Customers and Deliverables
| Customer | Deliverable |
|---|---|
| Product domain | Protocol specifications, governance model analysis |
| Growth domain | Research summaries for content, compelling narratives |
| Strategy (Alex) | Evidence for pivot/persevere decisions |
Dependencies
| Provider | What they deliver |
|---|---|
| Product | Questions to investigate, hypotheses to validate |
| Growth | User feedback that raises new research questions |
External Constraints
- Research must be shareable (no proprietary dependencies)
- Cite sources properly
- Distinguish between validated findings and speculation
Key Challenges
- Democracy Earth is dormant — limited active community to learn from
- Liquid democracy has few real-world implementations at scale
- AI agent delegation in governance is entirely novel — no precedent
- Balancing academic rigor with practical applicability
Key Resources
- Democracy Earth whitepaper (NotebookLM notebook: 89e24f5c-39ef-464f-a698-eee77548650d)
- Sociocracy 3.0 NotebookLM notebook
- Academic databases, arXiv
- Open-source governance project codebases
Delegator Responsibilities
- Define research priorities aligned with product phases
- Connect with practitioners and academics
- Validate research conclusions against real-world experience
Competencies, Qualities, and Skills
- Academic research methodology
- Understanding of governance theory (democracy, sociocracy, liquid democracy)
- AI agent architecture knowledge
- Protocol design
- Synthesis and clear writing
